CCP’s Reprisal Triggers 8,000-Wukan-Villager Mass Protest

The Wukan villagers participating in the mass protest that

took place in this September at Shanwei, Guangdong Province,

experienced reprisal by Chinese Communist Party (CCP)

and local authorities.

Five villagers were arrested, and the mass protest

was alleged to have Involved the instigation of overseas forces, which had changed the incident’s nature.

Yet another outbreak of mass protest ensued,

with over 8,000 villagers involved, on December 10, demanding the release of villagers who had been arrested.

On December 9, the CCP authorities of Shanwei city stated

that the police had arrested some villagers representatives

and were pursuing others who had participated in

the Wukan Village Mass Protest that took place on September 21.

The CCP authorities had outlawed villagers’ voluntary organizations:

the Interim Representative Council and Women Representative Union.

CCP Secretary of Shanwei Committee, Zheng Yanxiong,

alleged that the villagers had taken the wrong approach to appeal.

And “those with ulterior motives” had used the villagers and had

deliberately escalated the incident.

In particular, Zheng had claimed that the implication of

overseas forces had changed the nature of the incident.

Hong Kong’s Oriental Daily reported, the authorities’

statements and reprisals fueled Wukan villagers’ furies.

On December 10, the entire Wukan village once again staged

a full-scale demonstration.

Over 8,000 villagers held banners with the wording "Down

with corrupt officials," "Return my farm lands",

intercepting roads to protest, asking for the immediate release

of arrested village representatives, and for a thorough investigation into corrupt officials.

In order to prevent the police from entering the village to

capture people, the villagers ,armed with stones, guarded the intersections,

and placed big trees and nailed plates to block the way,

vowing to die to defend the village.

Oriental Daily points out, that the Wukan incident is

an obvious mass protest against official oppression.

While the CCP authorities insisted on involving the so-called

"overseas forces" as a justification to shirk responsibility.

This has become it’s stereotypical reaction,

and a usual trick to fool people.

France-based democracy activists, Zhang Jian says:

"Facing civilians』 uprising across China, the CCP regime

uses hostile Western forces every time as an excuse to

divert public attention from the essential issue.

So sometimes we wondered whether China’s rampant usage

of kitchen waste oil to deep fry food also has the backing of the US?

And has the US also the same understanding in matters of

common mistress-keeping and similar issues in China? "

Wukan village is located in the developed regions.

Over years, villagers have kept petitioning to solve the

problems of village committee elections, financial issues and land disputes.

On September 21, hundreds of villagers went to

petition the city hall.

The protester’s numbers rose to over 1,000 by the next day.

and a clash ensued between police and villagers.

Discontent with CCP local authorities handling of issues,

on November 21, there was another outbreak of mass protest by about 5,000 villagers.

They marched in the streets, holding banners with the wording

"Down with official-enterprise collusion, return my land,

punish corruption , return my rights, down with dictatorship".

Democracy activist Zhang Jian points out that, every day

massive protests take place in China.

The so-called "stability overrides everything" alleged by

the CCP, in essence, indicates that instability in society is near the tipping point.

However, instead of making a fundamental institutional change,

the CCP regime has bludgeoned and put labels on other parties, attempting to shift people's attention.

Zhang stressed that in the era of the internet, the CCP’s acts

will only help to show up what it tries to conceal.

Zhang Jian says: "What’s the true reason for such an

outbreak of mass protest?

It is because China is not a country that implements the

rule of law.

In China, a political party overrides the constitution, a doctrine

tops the constitution, an interest group is not subject to any supervision or control,

a system of dictatorship can be above the constitution and

can unscrupulously violate civil rights.

All of this results in waves of mass rights uprisings across China."

The official statement has claimed the dismissal of the secretary

and deputy secretary of the Wukan village branch of the CCP.

However, the villagers view them as mere "shrimps",

and the behind-the-scenes "high level corrupt officials" are left untouched.

Villagers say, "We don’t strive for money,

but for corrupt officials’ to step-down."
