Singer Involved In CCP Top Officials Corruption

Recently, China's military singer Tang Can, labeled as

“Queen of new folk song,” was reported online to be detained.

Tang is under investigation by the Central Discipline Inspection

Commission (CDIC) of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

The singer is suspected of implication

in many senior officials' cases of corruption.

On December 12, Tang was set free temporarily.

The involvement of CDIC triggers speculations that those

under-investigation are senior officials from CCP's central departments and the military.

Overseas website Mirrorbooks.com quoted Beijing sources,

that Tang Can has been placed on file for investigation.

Tang got involved in several high-ranking officials corruption

cases that are under investigation by the CDIC.

The report did not disclose the details,

nor the concerned officials' names.

However, it is known that CDIC mainly deals with officials

with ranks above provincial levels.

Sources said the implicated senior officials

come from CCP's central departments and the military.

The news was widely reproduced by China's websites.

According to the reports, the CDIC did not find Tang Can

involved in the crime, thus Tang was said to be set free.

On December 12, the chief of Tang Can studio responded

to the Chengdu-based newspaper Huaxi Dushi Bao.

She said that the rumor is false

and that this is a netizens' malicious speculation.

Tang Can did not show up because

"she was very busy recently."

The chief also stated, "The studio will respond to the media

at the appropriate time in the future,

but for the time being it refuses interviews from

an individual media."

Tang Can's Sina blog and micro blog were not updated

since December 9.

On the 90th anniversary of CCP's founding,

the CCP regime vigorously initiated celebrating activities.

It instigated the media and civilians to pay tribute to

“the Mother CCP.”

Tang Can boasted before CCP'smedia that one should

'sing out the feeling of happiness' when singing the red songs.

Tang's words made netizens' ask, “How can we, discontented

civilians, sing out happiness when singing the red songs?

Now China's society is crisis-ridden, with corrupt authorities,

wide wealth gap, environmental pollution and moral decay.

The fake, harmful and toxic commodities prevail, even

the heaven became furious by sending us natural disasters.”

A contract singer with CQ News Media Company

Yang Yinbo points out some specifics.

Yang says there is a difference between truly being a music

professional and pursuing career in the entertainment circle.

There are indescribably hidden rules

in China's music business, shares the musician.

Those who rely on the powerful and corrupt officials

are striving for gaining the chance to attain fame.

Yang Yinbo: "For years, many national committee members

of the Political Consultative Conference came from entertainment circles.

These people are always like knickknacks there.

If you're from the entertainment circle and want to be a big hit,

without a back-up behind-the-scenes, it'll be hard. That's one of the hidden rules.”

Yang Yinbo thinks Tang Can was not only used for the CCP

authorities' propaganda of united front and helped the regime to present a false peace and prosperity.

She also became another kind of “tool,”

in terms of her implication in officials'corruption cases.

Thus behind the bright stage lights

many dark things seems to get hidden.

Yang Yinbo: "Tang Can was a big hit. But I found that all she

has left so far are those songs praising the regime and advocating a peaceful prosperity.

She took a completely wrong road for her art career,

ruined by some vague rules."

The 37-year-old Tang Can is from Zhuzhou, Hunan province.

She was admitted to Wuhan Conservatory of Music.

Tang attained fame in1999 by singing the MTV

『Blessing the Motherland,』 directed by Zhang Yimou.

In 2010, Tang Can was recruited as special professional

by Army Comrades Art Troupe of Beijing Military Area Command, and was granted the rank Senior Colonel.

On December 13, the media published a series of photos

of Tang Can.

On them she is with a luxury Hermes Birkin bag worth

RMB 450,000, a Louis Vuitton scarf, a sky-high priced jade necklace and a bracelet.

According to a report, if an involved party had only personal

relationships with implicated officials,

and is willing to assist in the investigation,

the person will not be held legally liable.

Li Wei, a “public mistress” of CCP senior officials,

had sat the precedent.

She was released and moved to Hong Kong

after confessing.

Li was said to be a mistress, shared by the former CCP

deputy secretary of Shandong Province, Du Shicheng,

the former chairman of Sinopec, Chen Tonghai,

and the former Finance Minister, Jin Renqing.

Nevertheless, these senior officials' political careers

were ruined because of the revelations of her involvement.
