【新唐人2011年2月21日訊】北京郵電大學校長方濱興是中共互聯網“防火長城”的首席設計師，被中共譽為“中國防火長城”之父，但是許多中國大陸的網友則將他稱為“網民公敵”。日前，他公開承認，為了檢測他設置的防火牆，自己也曾翻牆去訪問被他遮罩的網站。
方濱興也“翻牆”上網！消息刊登在中共官方媒體上。《環球時報》英文版星期五報導：方濱興向記者表示，他有六個VPN（virtual private networks），也就是用來對抗“防火長城”（GFW）的虛擬專用網路，簡單的說就是「翻牆帳號」。方濱興說，他在測試是GFW還是VPN能贏。”他自稱對反政府的信息並無興趣。
方濱興向《環球時報》記者確認，他是“防火長城”的首席設計師，這個系統從1998年開始啟動，大約在2003年上線。方濱興拒絕向記者描述“防火長城”的工作機制，他說“這是機密”。
根據中國大陸網民的體會，“防火長城”是一個通過敏感詞過濾，來解析境外網站，防止網民接觸中共所定義的所謂“敏感信息”的監控系統。
談到他的檢測結果，方濱興說，在建牆和翻牆的鬥爭中，防火牆似乎略輸一籌，所以中共急需“有效的”互聯網“防火牆”。
方濱興說，在“防火長城”和翻牆工具之間，將有“永恆的戰爭”，而“防火長城”仍有很大的改進空間。
美國網路安全專家夏比爾表示，互聯網本身就是開放的，繞過中國互聯網防火牆，現在並不難做到。
夏比爾：“現在一個很大的變化，就是越來越多的網民在公開的談論翻牆這件事情。越來越多的人就認識到信息是被政府扭曲的，大家有願望要翻牆。具體技術上的話，翻牆是比較容易的。互聯網這個技術本身就決定了它是開放的。”
去年底，方濱興在“新浪微博客”上開設帳號，但在一開通之後，就被上萬條網民的謾駡淹沒。幾天後，方濱興被迫關閉了微博帳號。方濱興認為，這是他為國家做出的犧牲。
夏比爾：“他自己說的話從良心上總是會給自己一套說詞。把本來是為了維護中共政府統治的行為他解釋成愛國。現在網路上也是有很多的人都已經指出來，愛國跟愛政府、愛黨不是一碼事兒。所以他自己出於掩飾的話，他也會說翻牆並不是為了要看海外的自由信息。”
中共官方聲稱中國現在擁有4億5700萬網民，並有網路自由。但當局一直遮罩包括Twitter、Facebook和YouTube在內的網站，激怒許多大陸網民。當局認為這是一些有反對政府內容的網站。
FACEBOOK的創辦人馬克·扎克伯格（Mark Zuckerberg），去年聖誕節期間訪問北京，他說，“自從我一到了中國，我就無辦法訪問我的FACEBOOK帳號”。他不得不向中國的企業家們求助，他問：如何才能打敗“防火長城”——翻牆？
對於近來席捲中東部分地區的反政府民主示威活動，不僅中國媒體的報導被嚴格控制，網上一度連“埃及”兩個字也被遮罩。
被美國《華爾街日報》譽為中國民間記者第一人的網路知名人士周曙光表示，根據自己的觀察和統計，搜索網路活躍用戶數量，大約有5%的大陸網友，可以使用翻牆術，也就是大約有2375萬大陸網友在翻牆。

Fang Binxing, President of Beijing University of Posts
and Telecommunications and chief designer of
“Great Firewall of China” (GFW), is known online as
“enemy of netizens” by the internet users.
Recently, Fang admitted that in order to test GFW,
he used internet censorship circumvention technology
or VPN to access websites he blocked.
Fang Binxing also uses VPN to access website!
Global Times reported, Fang said he had six VPNs
specially designed to break through the GFW.
Fang said it was to test whether GFW or VPN would win.
He said no interest in the anti-government information.
Fang admitted, he was the chief designer of GFW,
which was initiated in 1998 and put online in 2003.
Fang refused to talk about the mechanism of GFW.
He said: “It is a secret.”
According to the experiences of netizens in China,
GFW is a system based on the filtering of sensitive
words to block the overseas websites and prevent
netizens from accessing to the “sensitive information.”
In terms of his test results, Fang said, GFW seemed
to be slightly inferior.
This is why the CCP is eager to create more “effective”
Internet firewall.
Fang said, there will be an “eternal war” between
GFW and VPNs, while GFW still has enormous room
for improvement.
Bill Xia, an Internet security expert in the U.S., said,
since the Internet is an open system, it is not difficult
to circumvent GFW now.
Bill Xia: “A major change now is that more and more
Netizens in China know the information is twisted
by the CCP. They openly talk about circumventing
Internet blockage. People want to use VPNs.
The internet blockage circumvention technology
is not so difficult, because the Internet technology
itself determines that it is an open system.”
Later last year, Fang Binxing opened a microblog
account at sina.com, but it was soon filled with
tens of thousands of posts cursing him.
He was forced to close the account several days later.
He believes this is his sacrifice for the country.
Bill Xia: He would have to justify what he said from
his conscience. He actually confused between
maintaining the CCP』s rule and patriotism.
Many netizens have already pointed this out online.
Loving your country is not equal to loving your
government or your party.
As an excuse, he would say he used VPNs
not to read overseas free information.
The CCP claims that China has 457 million netizens
who enjoy internet freedom, but it has blocked
websites including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.
This has irritated many netizens. The CCP regime said,
those websites contained anti-government contents.
Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook,
visited Beijing last Christmas.
He said: “Once I touched down in China,
I was not able to access to my Facebook account.”
He had to ask help from his Chinese counterparts.
He asked how to defeat GFW , i.e., circumvent the wall?
Due to recent anti-government democratic protests
in some Middle Eastern regions, media reports
in China are strictly controlled.
The word “Egypt” was also blocked in China.
Zhou Shuguang, a famous online writer who was
praised as “No 1 Chinese Folk Reporter”
by the Wall Street Journal, said that according to
his own observation and statistics, about 5%
active internet users can circumvent internet blockage,
i.e., about 24 million Chinese netizens use VPNs.
